How does Mica sizing work?

Mica sizes by actual waist measurement in inches rather than by a junior odd number. A Mica 26 is cut for a 26.5 inch waist, a 28 for a 28.5 inch waist, and a 30 for a 31 inch waist. Order the number closest to your own waist measurement and you will be close. Every Mica product page in the shop carries the full table: waist, hip, and thigh for each size, plus the front rise, the inseam, the leg opening, and the fabric blend. No guessing from a letter size.

How does Mica compare to Judy Blue and Risen?

Mica sits between the two. At size 26, Risen lists a 26 inch waist, Mica is cut for 26.5 inches, and Judy Blue lists 27.5 inches. So if you wear Risen, a Mica in the same number will feel very slightly roomier. If you wear Judy Blue, a Mica in the same number will feel about an inch tighter and you may want to size up. Mica also publishes thigh measurements, which neither Judy Blue nor Risen does, so it is the easiest of the three to buy without trying on.

Should I size up or down in Mica?

Down, if you are between two sizes. The denim carries spandex and has real stretch, so most people are happier in the smaller of two sizes rather than the larger.
