Will the mineral wash fade in the laundry?

It softens rather than fades. Mineral wash is a finishing process, not a surface print, so the color is in the fibers. Wash cold and dry low and it will keep getting softer without going patchy. The uneven tone you see in the photos is the finish, not wear.

Is the star patch printed or sewn on?

Sewn on. It is a fabric patch stitched to the front, with the stitching left visible to match the exposed seams. It will not crack or peel the way a screen print does.
