What are palazzo pants?

Palazzo pants are trousers cut wide and full from the hip all the way to the hem, with no taper at the knee or ankle. The leg hangs straight down like a long skirt, which is where the name comes from. Krafty Bandit carries them two ways: Judy Blue featherweight palazzo jeans in a lightweight denim, and acid wash fleece palazzo sweatpants in several colors for lounging and errands. Both sit high at the waist. Because the leg is so full, palazzo pants read dressier with a fitted or tucked top and more casual with an oversized one.

What is the difference between wide leg, palazzo, and barrel pants?

All three are roomy, but the shape differs. Wide leg pants are cut fuller than a straight jean and usually keep a consistent width from the knee down. Palazzo pants are the fullest of the three and stay wide from the hip to the floor, with no narrowing at all. Barrel pants curve outward through the thigh and then taper back in at the ankle, so the leg reads round rather than straight. If you want length and drape, choose palazzo. If you want a current, sculptural shape, choose barrel.

Will my patchwork pants look exactly like the photo?

No, and that is how patchwork works. Patchwork pants and overalls are pieced from separate panels of fabric, and the panels change from run to run. The color family and the overall style stay consistent, but the placement of prints and the mix of solid and patterned panels will differ from the pair in the photo. Every pair is one of a kind for that reason. If the exact print placement matters to you, message the shop before ordering and we will photograph the pair in your size.

Can I try these on in person near Pittsburgh?

Yes. Krafty Bandit is a physical shop at 127 Speer Street, Belle Vernon, PA 15012, about 35 minutes south of Pittsburgh in the Mon Valley. Everything in this collection is on the floor to try on. You can also order online and choose Local Pickup at checkout instead of paying for shipping. If you want measurements before you visit, message the shop and we will lay the pair flat and measure the waist, front rise, and inseam.
