Balsam and Cedar pairs fresh-cut balsam fir with woodsy cedarwood, and the jar's notes card also lists patchouli, which adds an earthy base. Both candles come in the big 34 oz double-wick Papa jar with a strong, room-filling scent. If you like both, burn the Balsam Fir 34 oz candle in December and switch to Balsam and Cedar after the holidays.

How do I get the best burn?

For the Balsam and Cedar 34 oz candle, let the wax melt all the way across the top on the first burn, about 3 to 4 hours, so it does not tunnel. Trim both wicks to about 1/4 inch before each light, and never leave a candle unattended. Set the jar on a heat-safe surface away from drafts, which make flames flicker and smoke. Following these steps helps the double-wick Papa jar reach its full burn time of about 150 hours.

A Cheerful Giver jar candles are available for in-store pickup only at our Belle Vernon shop, so the glass jars stay safe.
